Import user

The button Import users from another installation in the user administration imports users from another BL Banking installation instead of creating them anew. By importing users, separated installations of BL Banking can be combined into one joint multi-user installation.

Requirements

All installations must have the same version of BL Banking. If necessary, perform an update as described under General – Installation – Update. If you have set up the joint installation with the included H2 database, follow the recommendations for changing the database under Quick guides – Database migration.

The joint installation must be accessible from all workstations, for example, on a network drive. For imported users, a separately stored Key directory must remain accessible. To be able to import users, you must have access from your computer to the workspace directory of the other installation, for example, via a network share. If you want to import users from different installations, perform the import for each installation separately.

Users who are leaving their old installation should complete any open payments and orders beforehand, as these will not be available in the joint installation. The old installation will remain unchanged, so every user can still log in there and view his application data.

Import
  1. Click the button in user administration to open the dialog box Select directory.
  2. Enter the path to the workspace directory of the other installation in the Directory field, or click Browse and navigate to it.
  3. The users from the other installation are displayed and are automatically selected. Select only the users you want.
  4. Click Finish. The users are imported and displayed in the user administration.
  5. Bank connections that did not yet exist are created. You can view these by clicking the button Bank connections overview in the user administration.

Imported users do not come with their previous permissions; just the administrator right. Select an imported user in the user overview, click Edit, and assign the permissions as desired.

An imported user can now log in to the joint installation with his password. If the key directory cannot be found, a dialog box is displayed in which the path must be entered. A two-factor authentication is not imported and must be set up anew under User Preferences – Security.

After the import, bank connections can be used immediately without without reinitialization. Master data such as recipients, payment templates, and periodic payments, as well as individual payment files, can be exported from the old installation and reimported here. Account statements can be restored by retrieving them manually; see Retrieve account statements. Otherwise, these can also be exported and imported. You can access all import wizards via the menu item File  – Import.

Note: Importing requires the appropriate editing permissions. Recipients can only be imported if recipient recording is enabled under System settings – Payment recording.
